Remembering Bradley James Mears: A Beloved Bennington Resident

Bradley James Mears, a cherished member of the Bennington community, passed away at the age of 25 on July 4, 2026, at his home. His lifelong ties to the area and his joyful spirit left a lasting impact on those around him.

Born on April 26, 2001, in Albany, New York, Bradley was the beloved son of Larry Leon Mears Jr. and Della Mary (Prue) Mears. He grew up in Bennington, attended local schools, and graduated from Mount Anthony Union High School. Despite facing physical challenges, Bradley’s vibrant personality and infectious smile defined him more than any limitations.

A Life Filled with Joy

Bradley found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, including camping, fishing, and spending time with his dogs. His family remembers him as a source of joy and love, stating, “Every day with Brad was a blessing.” His gentle nature and kindness touched everyone who knew him.

Survived By Loved Ones

He is survived by his parents, Larry Jr. and Della Mears of Bennington, as well as his siblings: Autumn Croka (Eric), Charles Mears, and Austin Mears (Melody). Bradley also leaves behind his grandmothers, Loretta Mears and Susan Prue, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his grandfathers and several family members.

Graveside Service Details

Friends and relatives are invited to a graveside committal service for Bradley at Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland, Vermont, on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to the Horseshoe Acres Activities Fund or the Bennington Rescue Squad.
