Bennington Resident Adelaide M. Talbot Passes Away at 103

Adelaide M. Talbot, a longtime resident of Bard Road in Bennington, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, at the age of 103. Her life spanned over a century, touching the hearts of many in our community.

Born on September 2, 1922, in Farmingdale, New York, Adelaide was the daughter of John and Christina (Scholl) Talbot. She graduated from Farmingdale High School in 1940 and began her career at Grumman Aircraft in Bethpage, New York, where she worked as a clerk from 1942 until 1964.

Career and Community Involvement

In 1964, Adelaide moved to Bennington, where she continued her professional journey at Polygraphic in North Bennington and later at Tansitor, retiring in 1985 after many years of dedicated service. A devoted member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church, she contributed to the community through her faith and involvement.

Legacy and Personal Life

Adelaide enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including crossword puzzles, crocheting, embroidering, walking, and even roller skating. She leaves behind her grandniece, Julie (Bard) Boehm; her nephew, David Bard; and several other nieces, nephews, grandnephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, John E. Talbot, and her sister, Edwina Talbot Bard.

Funeral Arrangements

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington, followed by interment in the family lot at St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Adelaide’s passing is felt deeply in our local community, where her spirit and contributions will be remembered.
